Mijatović: In Banja Luka, awareness of BiH as a civic state is growing

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The only normal stance if we want to build a state is not to comment on court decisions, but to implement them, Vojin Mijatović, vice-president of the SDP Main Board of BiH, told N1, commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina which declared Republika Srpska Day unconstitutional.

Mijatović says that the ruling party and the opposition in Republika Srpska are always "united around nonsense," including when it comes to the Constitutional Court's decision regarding January 9.

"Instead of dealing with the multitude of problems citizens have in this country, we deal with everything that divides us, more precisely everything that is contentious. I always claim that as long as our arguments are from the '90s, we won't be able to talk about the future of this country," said Mijatović.

Commenting on the opposition in RS, Mijatović says they have been "useful idiots of Milorad Dodik for many years."

As he states, Milorad Dodik and SNSD have been defeating the opposition for the fourth election cycle.

"You can imagine what the opposition in RS is like when, it seems, only the SDP will remain in opposition," he stated.

Mijatović claims that the SDP has made a breakthrough in Republika Srpska.

"Unfortunately, over the past 10 years, the SDP has almost disappeared in RS because you have a peak of national tension that reached its boiling point in these elections. You realistically have a story that the SDP relies exclusively on Bosniak votes, more precisely returnee votes in RS. There are fewer and fewer of those people, almost none. We have now made a breakthrough, a good number of Serbs have joined the SDP, especially in Banja Luka and that region. Now we are slowly stepping forward to get our share of the political market pie, and we succeeded. In about six and a half months, we went from zero to one and a half thousand votes. Now the SDP is a completely normal thing in Banja Luka; it was anathematized until before these elections. Slowly, awareness is rising in Banja Luka about the civic state of Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Mijatović.
