Mijatović: I feel uncomfortable when I see the Russian ambassador with Stevandić

(Patria) - After SDP's Vojin Mijatović wrote to Russian ambassador Igor Kalabukhov not to interfere in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, today a new request for him to influence Milorad Dodik and, together with the US, find a solution for the situation in BiH. Mijatović met with the Russian ambassador at the ambassador's invitation, following the letter he had sent him.

“I must say that I am very glad we managed to talk about everything that is currently a problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I asked the ambassador for the Russian Federation to take a constructive stance towards BiH, not to stand behind any policy in BiH. I will be very honest, I said that I consider Russia a friendly country to BiH and that I feel very uncomfortable when I see Mr. Ambassador standing with a criminal like Nenad Stevandić,” Mijatović said after the meeting.

The Vice President of the SDP added that he urged Russia not to give legitimacy to “such policies,” nor to the policies advocated by Milorad Dodik and similar figures in BiH.

“I received assurances that the Russian side stands for the integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order of BiH. I want to believe that story, but I will not hesitate to repeat everything I said in the letter next time either,” Mijatović stated.

He explained that he had previously been to the US Embassy in BiH and expects them to reach a broad agreement to help BiH. He also commented on the last session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NSRS).

“I said that Mr. Dodik is obviously heading towards some end; we agreed that this is not good. I asked him to influence that story in any way. I said I am glad that Dodik's last trip to Moscow did not go as he had planned,” Mijatović said.
