(Patria) - Supporters of the Yellow Vest movement are calling for protests again today, as Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron's government prepares to suppress violent demonstrations after last weekend's unrest.
Authorities have banned demonstrations on the Champs-Elysees in Paris and its surroundings, after riots broke out there last Saturday, as well as in key urban areas of Toulouse, Marseille, and Nice.

The government has ordered the police to prevent any gatherings in the banned areas, while ministers have called the demonstrators "rioters" rather than protesters.
The army has been called in to guard government buildings to free up police and security forces to suppress riots, a measure condemned by the opposition as dangerous.
French citizens have been protesting for the 19th Saturday, and clashes between demonstrators and police have occurred on several occasions, with many shops looted and burned across France.
