Mesić: Dr. Cerić is exceptionally educated and has knowledge, there is no reason against his candidacy!

Dr. Mustafa Cerić is exceptionally educated, has knowledge and the right to engage in politics, stated Stjepan Mesić, former President of the Republic of Croatia and one of the politicians who left an indelible mark on the region, exclusively for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Mesić, as always, follows political events in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and emphasizes that he knows Dr. Cerić very well, who has registered as an independent candidate for the BiH Presidency.

- Yes, I also ran as an independent candidate for the first time and won – Mesić told Patria.

Speaking about the claims that some individuals make against Dr. Cerić, because he held the position of the Head of the Islamic Community in BiH, Mesić says that he sees nothing wrong with the candidacy.

- I am always irritated when religious officials engage in politics. Especially here in Zagreb, bishops politicize from the altar. But if someone leaves religious service, if they are no longer a religious official, they have the right to engage in politics like any other citizen. They are equal to other citizens – says Mesić.

According to him, entering politics is new for Dr. Cerić, and Mesić believes it is important for him to choose good associates.

- He is certainly exceptionally educated, has enough knowledge, and now the question is what choice he will make for his associates. When you enter politics, you must have additional knowledge. In many things, he will have to have associates who know their job – Mesić points out.

He believes that the fact that Dr. Cerić is an independent candidate for the BiH Presidency can be a positive thing for the political scene.

- It can be a positive thing considering that relations in BiH are strained, especially among the major parties, and consensus cannot be reached in any way, but time will tell. I am convinced that citizens will behave as a collective intellectual and they will understand what suits Bosnia and Herzegovina the most – Mesić concludes in an interview with Patria.
