Mešalić warns the Troika: The state is on the verge of collapse if HDZ and SNSD each get two judges in the Constitutional Court of BiH

(Patria) - Federal deputies today, within the agenda item "Elections and Appointments", considered the Proposal of the Decision on the appointment of a working group for the procedure of electing judges of the Constitutional Court of BiH elected by the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament.

The President of the Commission for Elections and Appointments, Mladen Bošković (HDZ BiH), explaining this decision, reminded that the House of Representatives has so far elected two judges in this term, and that it remains to elect two more.

Bošković clarified that today there will be a vote on the decision to elect members of the working group for the procedure of electing two judges of the Constitutional Court of BiH elected by the House of Representatives.

And for the members of the working group, as he stated, Mladen Bošković (president), Senad Subašić (member), Irfan Durić (member), Mustafa Šabić (member), and Joko Radić (member) were proposed.

- Its task is to conduct the procedure for electing two judges of the Constitutional Court of BiH elected by the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament - said Bošković.

A debate followed, during which the head of the Democratic Front (DF) caucus, Mahir Mešalić, said that, as in the case of Marin Vukoja, the Troika has once again capitulated to the demands of HDZ.

- The names of the candidates for judges of the Constitutional Court are already known in advance - one will be a member of SDP, and the other a member of HDZ - emphasized Mešalić.

He stressed that the Constitutional Court of BiH does not recognize the category of peoples, because out of six domestic judges - four are appointed from the Federation of BiH and two from RS.

- There is no category of peoples. Unfortunately, the practice of having a category of party members has been introduced. And just as Marin Vukoja was a party man, and Mirsad Ćeman, so it will be now.

With the Troika capitulating to such an extent that HDZ will elect two out of four judges in FBiH, and the Troika will have one. And that will be the result of your failed mandate in the FBiH Parliament.

Unfortunately, there will be no competence again. You expelled all DF members from the Commission for Elections and Appointments, although the Rules of Procedure did not stipulate that. You also changed the Rules of Procedure to push Vukoja through.

You are again going for party people. That is not good. If you are going to rely on past practice, which you from the Troika parties criticized when you were in opposition, that is no excuse because citizens expect us to appoint the most competent people to the Constitutional Court - stated Mešalić, reports Patria.

He emphasizes that he expects the same scenario as in the case of Marin Vukoja, who "voted for some things that benefited Milorad Dodik in the last two rulings of the Constitutional Court".

- Appointing party judges, or handing over two members of the Constitutional Court to HDZ, plus two members who would later possibly be appointed by Milorad Dodik from RS, leads to the direct collapse of the state of BiH.

It is sad that you have succumbed again. The opposition, which makes up almost half of this Parliament, will again have absolutely no say in this process. I cannot comprehend how parties like SDP and Naša stranka agree to this.

For NiP, it is more or less clear, it is some kind of HDZ branch in Sarajevo. And we, as opposition parties, will resist to the extent we can, because we again believe that you are doing this in a way that is not in the interest of all citizens of FBiH.

Remove the category of parties, try to find at least somewhat competent people who will get a chance in the Constitutional Court of BiH, instead of choosing party obedient servants - concluded Mešalić, reports Patria.
