Mešalić: Komšić is not a dictator, he is just allergic to lies and scams

Federal deputy of the Democratic Front from Tuzla, Mahir Mešalić, addressed an open letter regarding the recent decision of three members (two cantonal deputies in HNK) to leave the DF, about which they informed the public via a press release. The news agency Patria publishes Mešalić's reaction in full. 

-I can understand people leaving a party if they have a strong political argument, and if the party's policy undermines the basic values of defending the interests of the state, canton, or their city. No, as a sign of gratitude, they called him nothing less than a dictator. A man who invested his political authority so they could get a mandate and go from anonymous individuals to 'respected,' highly paid deputies.

Instead of showing their quality to citizens through their hard work, they turned against the DF and their base at an important moment for their city. With that 'dictator,' I, as the former president of the KO TK, often sharply exchanged opinions, but he never called me to 'dictate' any political order. I even criticized him sometimes for not cutting through some decisions.

Željko Komšić is far from a dictatorship, with no intention whatsoever to absolve him of anything because he doesn't need it. All of us who know him better know that he is strict because he is allergic to lies, scams, and discreditation. There are always people in and around the party who may see themselves as the purpose of existence. However, that is political struggle in every major party. So, whoever is there should fight; whoever finds it hard should leave. I have had problems too, but I represent those people who worked day and night to get the opportunity as deputies to show what they know.

So, heads up everyone, people come and go for various reasons, but the project will live on. They won't convince me to think that these 20-plus years were good for me. The moment something doesn't add up, I will say it publicly, through my positions. When during the campaign it was discussed that future elected deputies should be bound by contracts, we received a barrage of objections from President Komšić, who believed that ideology cannot be bought and that we should not be like other parties. He was right. Whoever wants to go, let them go and good luck to them. But at least let them leave with arguments of truth, and if we are wrong, we can revise and say we made a mistake.

This way, people can write all sorts of things, issue press releases, engage in personal two-day self-promotion with the help of media hungry for sensations about collapses. Well, a party does not fall apart if 3, 30, or 300 out of 30,000 members leave the party, although I think we should bring back people who left at some point due to their or our mistake. A political party is not a police station to select who goes and who comes, Mešalić concludes.
