Meša: I wanted to do something big for my country and together we succeeded

Mehmed Baždarević, the head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, addressed the media last night after BiH's victory over Cyprus (3:2) and qualification for the Euro 2016 play-offs, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- An extremely difficult match with a lot of nerves, especially on our side. The importance of the match and fatigue probably influenced that. We didn't take the opportunity to turn the game in our favour after 1-0, and afterwards it was tough. I think the team that wanted it more won, the team that fought, and that decided the match. The most important thing was to achieve the victory - said Meša.

Baždarević said he wanted to do something big for his country.

-  Together we succeeded in that. When I came to the national team it seemed impossible, but we did an excellent job. In the first place, the players achieved it. We reached the play-offs and all congratulations to the national team players. There is still another difficult task ahead of us, but the team grew through the qualifiers and showed that it can beat even stronger teams than the last two opponents - said Meša.

Speaking about Edin Džeko, Meša said that he was not fully recovered, but that he was ready to take a risk so that we could win.

- The substitution with Milan Đurić proved successful, so we decided to preserve Edin, so that he recovers as soon as possible and returns to the national team - said Meša.

Haris Medunjanin scored two goals and contributed to the magnificent victory of the Dragons.

- It's a very nice feeling after the goals and the victory. I came here to play for my country, and then you have to give your maximum. We were all at the level tonight. I always believed in myself even though I was in a difficult situation. We advanced to the play-offs and now two important matches await us, I hope we will celebrate after them as well - said Medunjanin.
