Meron angered after victims said they would seek his resignation

President of the Hague Tribunal Theodor Meron abruptly ended a meeting he held today in Sarajevo with representatives of victims' associations, after Nura Begović, vice-president of the Association "Women of Srebrenica" told him that they would seek his resignation, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria. 

Bakira Hasečić, president of the Association "Woman-Victim of War" told Patria that it was the worst meeting ever with representatives from the Hague Tribunal, where victims did not receive answers to their questions, nor were they able to present all the problems they face. 

- I cannot come to terms with Meron's answers. I asked him who released Šešelj, and he replied that the Hague prosecution did not file an appeal on time. I was stunned, because ten days ago during his stay in Sarajevo, Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz told me that the Prosecution did file an appeal. Who is not telling the truth now? We still want to believe in the Hague Tribunal, but how can we after such answers. The victims are now confused. So what will happen with Karadžić and Mladić? Will they also be released? Will the victims see justice, Hasečić wonders. 

At the meeting, Meron was told that victims cannot be satisfied with the sentences handed down to war criminals, and that the straw that broke the camel's back and for which his resignation will be sought is precisely the release of Šešelj, thereby rewarding criminals and Serbia, which carried out aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
