Merkel invited Bosnian politicians to Berlin on August 28

Angela Merkel, German Chancellor, invited Bosnian political leaders on August 28 to Berlin for a meeting on the perspective of a new EU approach for BiH, said German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Forum for Prosperity and Employment, reports NAP.

He took the opportunity to congratulate the BiH football team on qualifying for Brazil.

- That is a confirmation for BiH. Seven players from the Bundesliga play for you - added Steinmeier.

We remind you that the Bosnian news agency Patria previously reported that the United States and Germany had begun initial talks on a new initiative to resolve key issues, including constitutional changes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A new international initiative would culminate in the spring of next year, confirmed multiple sources to the Patria agency. In recent weeks, contacts between Washington and Berlin have intensified, initially at the level of influential non-governmental organizations with good connections to the administrations. These talks, some of which have already taken place in Berlin, aim to program realistic goals and achievements of the new international initiative. The new initiative will focus on real reforms concerning functionality, for example, the establishment of a state ministry of agriculture, and practical constitutional changes that would enable state bodies to work without constant blockades. Discussions are still underway on whether to include the reform of the Federation of BiH in the package, which some consider a prerequisite for constitutional reforms.

Washington has interested Germany, whose voice is the strongest in the European Union, to join this initiative, especially if Berlin also takes over the position of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, who would likely be the bearer of the new initiative, writes Patria.
