Merhamet distributes electric stoves and packages to 40 families whose homes were damaged in floods

(Patria) - The Muslim charitable society „Merhamet“, in cooperation with „Merhamet“ Sweden, provided electric stoves and food packages for 40 families whose homes were damaged in the recent floods.

The stoves and packages were distributed to families in four municipalities that were most affected by the floods. The aforementioned donation was received by vulnerable families in the following places: Otes, Breoca, Osjek (Ilidža municipality), Pendečići, Gračanica, Šabići, Deliješ (Trnovo municipality), then Ribari, Džajići, Brđani, Boždarevići Donje selo (Konjic municipality) and in the places Djevor, Ravna, Donja Jablanica, Dragan Selo, Slatina, Dobrinja and Bukov Pod (Jablanica municipality).

This aid, worth 120,000 Swedish kronor, was provided by „Merhamet“ Sweden.

- The funds for this campaign were collected by „Merhamet“ Sweden thanks to Bosnians and Herzegovinians living and working in Sweden. I am proud that our people are always ready to help their compatriots in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which they have shown many times. Their humanity is especially proven in crisis situations, like this one when our country was hit by floods - stated the president of „Merhamet“ Sweden, Fehim Halilović.

In addition to Halilović, the distribution of electric stoves and food packages, each worth 100 KM, was also attended by the president of HO „Merhamet“ MDD Kenan Vrbanjac and the director of the Regional Board of „Merhamet“ Sarajevo, Munib Bujak. 

- I thank „Merhamet“ Sweden for this valuable aid to our citizens whose homes were damaged in the recent floods. Otherwise, the Muslim charitable society „Merhamet“ got involved immediately during the natural disaster and acted as an emergency response. „Merhamet“ teams were on the ground, monitoring the situation and were in constant contact with local civil protection services, so we did a great and significant job during the floods - said Vrbanjac.
