Former boxer Mensur Peljto, who was arrested in Sarajevo two days ago on suspicion of committing war crimes, was released today shortly after 2 PM, his lawyer Faruk Balijagić confirmed for Patria.
- He was released, but the criminal complaint remains in effect, as he was illegally detained longer than he should have been. I don't know how they will justify that - says Balijagić.
Peljto was questioned yesterday at the Prosecutor's Office of Brčko District, and he was arrested on suspicion that during 1992, in the area of the former Brčko municipality in the settlement of Gornji Rahić, he committed war crimes against the civilian population and prisoners of war.
