Memorial walk for Azra Spahić and Alma Suljić on May 26 in Sarajevo

(Patria) - In memory of the tragically deceased young doctors Azra Spahić and Alma Suljić, students of the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo will organize a memorial walk on May 26.

The walk will begin at 6:00 PM in front of the Faculty of Medicine building, and participants will proceed in silence towards Marijin Dvor - to the site of their death, where a memorial plaque has also been placed.

"We invite you to join us in this symbolic tribute, so that together we can preserve the memory of their prematurely lost noble lives," said the Association of Students of the Faculty of Medicine Sarajevo (USMF), which is organizing the event.

The memorial walk is also supported by the Association of Medical Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BoHeMSA), the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo, and the Academia Foundation.

We remind you that on May 26, 2023, Armin Berberović caused a serious traffic accident at Marijin Dvor while under the influence of alcohol, without a driver's license, and driving at high speed.

Azra Spahić and Alma Suljić were fatally injured in the accident, while the sister of the murdered Alma - Edina, sustained minor injuries.

A memorial plaque was placed at the scene of the accident in honor of the deceased doctors.

"There are lives that are short, but leave and give so much more...", reads the inscription on the memorial plaque erected by the City of Sarajevo in memory of two tragically extinguished lives.

Berberović was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo.
