Memić: The revolution has begun, custody is just the start, the big fish are next

Muriz Memić is satisfied with the decision of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to order custody for Hasan Dupovac and Zijad Mutap, and he does not give up his fight to prove that his son was killed and the evidence hidden and falsified.

-    This is a revolution! It has begun! We all wished for and expected such a decision. For me, this is hope that the rule of law does function after all. We are aware that this is just one battle and that there will be more struggle, because you have seen that they use all sorts of things to turn the story into politics. There is not a trace of politics here, and if Hasan Dupovac is a man, today he had the opportunity to say who ordered him to hide evidence. He is just an executor of someone's orders. We will see if this leads to former Commissioner Vahid Ćosić and former Chief Prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Dalida Burzić, Memić told Patria.

The court's decision is expected and encouraging for Ifet Feraget, the attorney for the Memić family.

-    Everything we have done and said is based on evidence and statements from people who are competent and know what happened. This is an opportunity to overcome the fear with which some powerful people have obviously intimidated witnesses. A lot of evidence has been destroyed, forged, but we still believe and know that there is enough to prove that in the Memić case, as well as the Dragičević case, the investigation was influenced to go in the wrong direction, Feraget pointed out.

With a message that he wishes no one any harm, Feraget nevertheless noted that at this moment his thoughts are with the families who lost their sons. To those who concealed evidence, he said to think about whether it is worth enduring long-term legal penalties to protect the mastermind. If it pays off, then it is up to them, Feraget said.
