Memić Responds to Kapidžić: Minister, the Dobrinja-Butmir Tunnel is a Greater Achievement Than the Tower on Koševsko Brdo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In response to the interview of the current Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection on the Faktor.ba portal, concerning the mention of Ilidža Municipality, especially as a reaction to his statement - I quote, "of course, there is resistance when an order comes from the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton" then they have to go back because they issued the permit. It's not easy now, but they realized it's necessary", and especially to the sentence - I quote, "The mayor who didn't understand gave up his candidacy and left", the mayor of Ilidža, Senaid Memić, who is soon to take over the position of BiH Ambassador to Malaysia, reacted with an open letter.

"I have an obligation to react:

1. I am of the opinion that no one should be in an executive or legislative position for more than two terms, and someone like Tito should not be allowed to serve longer.

2. Those who came into power because they love it should not be allowed to be in power; instead, let those who are only useful to those who elected them be in power.

3. I haven't realized anything new; it's the minister who understands nothing.

4. I haven't gone anywhere; I live where I was born. I am defending what I was born into and I will not change or leave.

5. When I am no longer mayor, I will fight against Sarajevo fascism, narcissism, and the oppression of the residents of Kovači, Glavogodina, Hrasnica, Lasica, and the entire Ilidža.

6. It will be much easier for me to influence and direct a whole series of ministers of spatial planning from 1995-2000 who did not realize that 16,000 illegal buildings are their work and that everything Minister Kapidžić is doing will contribute to a new wave of illegal construction.

7. In this country, SDA has never seized power; instead, it has negotiated what is best for the population of BiH. Therefore, no one is capable of demolishing illegal buildings and will not achieve anything; instead, they will create chaos. Power implies responsibility, and I accept responsibility, even though all previous governments thought they were solving the problem with announcements of legalization, extensions, and all other tricks, when in reality they were flattering voters. I am SDA, and I am not like those who are proud of not being anywhere," Memić's letter stated.

Memić then adds: "Minister, I know you have your profession. I have mine too. I didn't reach my knowledge by faking it or talking, but by working. Minister, it is a greater achievement to have made the Dobrinja-Butmir tunnel project with Abdulah Ahmić than to have built the tower on Koševsko Brdo. You only know your job, and that in one direction, while I have done both my job and others' jobs when others didn't even know or dare to do what needed to be done for Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am telling everyone to carefully assess who is responsible for the state of spatial development in Sarajevo. Ministers and mayors who take Ilidža as a bad example should look at the capital projects they have financed and be ashamed of Ilidža."
