Memić and Feraget meet with the President of the HJPC: It is crucial to shed light on Dženan Memić's death

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, who has been seeking the truth about his son's death for more than five years, will today hold a meeting with the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) Halil Lagumdžija, along with his lawyer Ifet Feraget.

Memić previously told Patria that he and lawyer Feraget would inform the HJPC President about the Memić case and provide him with the evidence they have. The Memić case has not been resolved for more than five years, a fact that EU officials are also aware of. The High Representative in BiH Valentin Inzko also spoke about this case, as well as the murder of David Dragičević, at the United Nations Security Council. The recovery of the BiH judiciary and the restoration of public trust will only come when all the circumstances of the violent death of Dženan Memić and David Dragičević are finally clarified. The Memić and Dragičević families have become symbols of courage and resistance against a system that has, in every possible way, hindered their fight for the truth about their sons' deaths.

We remind you that last week the Supreme Court of FBiH passed a verdict partially accepting the appeal of the KS Prosecutor's Office against the acquittal of Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović, who were accused of a traffic accident and obstruction of justice in the case of Dženan Memić's death. The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo issued an acquittal twice, stating that there was no evidence that a traffic accident occurred on the night of February 8, 2016, and that Dženan Memić had injuries that could not be linked to a traffic accident. A new trial will be held before the Supreme Court of FBiH based on this verdict.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH is conducting an investigation into organized crime related to the Dženan Memić case, and Hasan Dupovac, who was the head of traffic investigations at the KS Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Administration when Memić died, and Zijad Mutap, the father of Alisa Mutap who was with Memić in Velika aleja, are in custody. Alisa Mutap, despite being a direct participant and having sustained injuries herself, appeared only once as a witness during the court proceedings. To this day, Dženan Memić's death is shrouded in mystery. The Memić family has claimed from the beginning that he was murdered by more than one person.

The Memić family claims that the indictment for a traffic accident is false and that the then Chief Prosecutor Dalida Burzić, now a judge at the BiH Court, involved about ten prosecutors in the entire case who rotated at hearings. Some of the prosecutors who represented the indictment have left the KS Prosecutor's Office. They are also included in the criminal complaint that Memić filed with the BiH Prosecutor's Office on October 5, 2018.
