Memić and Feraget to meet at the Supreme Court of FBiH

SARAJevo, (Patria) – The family of the murdered young man Dženan Memić has been seeking the truth about their son and brother's death for over 4 years. Not even two court proceedings have shed light on the death of the young man who, under undetermined circumstances on the night of February 8, 2016, in Velika aleja in Ilidža, sustained head injuries from which he died on February 15, 2016.

The Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment for a traffic accident against Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović, and the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo issued an acquittal twice, stating that there was no evidence that a traffic accident had occurred at all, and that the injuries on Dženan Memić's body did not correspond to those from a traffic accident. 

After the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo acquitted the Seferovićs for the second time on January 13, 2020, the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office appealed to the Supreme Court of FBiH. 

Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, requested a meeting at the Supreme Court of FBiH, given that an investigation into organized crime, led by the State Prosecutor's Office, is also underway. Although the decision of the Supreme Court of FBiH should not affect the investigation conducted by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH in this case, it is expected that the Supreme Court of FBiH will make a decision on the appeal of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office as soon as possible.

The Supreme Court of FBiH informed Memić that the acting president of the Supreme Court of FBiH, Ismeta Mujanović, will receive him and the Memić family's lawyer, Ifet Feraget, on June 9. 

The Memić family has so far organized about twenty protest gatherings, demanded the dismissal and resignation of the chief cantonal prosecutor at the time, Dalida Burzić (and since February 2019, a judge of the Court of BiH), and then Sabina Sarajlija, the withdrawal of the false indictment, and finally the establishment of the truth and prosecution of all those who participated in falsifying evidence, hiding and planting it during the investigation in Velika aleja, as well as manipulating evidence while some of it disappeared from official police premises. 

As Agencija Patria learns from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, they are actively working on the investigation, and a larger number of witnesses who have knowledge of the events before, during, and after February 8, 2016, have been interviewed. In Velika aleja that night, Dženan was in the company of Alisa Mutap, who appeared as a witness only once during the court proceedings. Her role in the entire case has also never been clarified, although she was an actor in the events of that fateful night.
