Melank: Problem with pension insurance for prominent independent artists will soon be resolved

(Patria) - Artists with the status of prominent independent artists from Sarajevo Canton have their pension and health insurance paid from the budget. However, for 10 years they have been unable to register the corresponding service years, leading to problems with pension calculations, which are lower than they should be.

Thanks to the initiative of Miomirka Melank, a deputy of the Naša stranka party in the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this problem will soon be resolved:

„This is an administrative problem. The funds that were paid for pension insurance were not individualized. Namely, they were paid for all artists collectively, without the possibility of further distribution of funds to individuals. There was no appropriate form to enable this. I submitted an initiative demanding that this problem be resolved. I received a positive response from the Government. They committed to all legislation concerning this issue so that independent prominent artists can also enjoy their rights without hindrance.“

The form that will enable artists to realistically register years of service will be prescribed by amendments to the Rulebook on submitting applications for registration and changes in the Unified System of Registration, Control and Collection of Contributions. Therefore, it will also be necessary to amend the Law on the Unified System of Registration, Control and Collection of Contributions.
