Mektić Discussed with Representatives of the European Parliament's Committee on Security and Defence

Representatives of the European Parliament's Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE), led by Michal Gahler and Bogdan Andrzej Zdrojewski, visited the Ministry of Security of BiH today where they met with Minister Dragan Mektić, reports the Patria News Agency.

The security situation in BiH and the region, as well as terrorist threats, were discussed. The representatives of the European Parliament were particularly interested in the cooperation of police agencies in BiH and their readiness to respond to security challenges, primarily terrorism and corruption.

Minister Mektić emphasized that BiH has the police and judicial capacities to counter terrorism, stating that the Ministry of Security has zero tolerance for this phenomenon and is taking all measures to eliminate this threat.

He stressed that corruption, which is also linked to political elites, currently poses the greatest threat to society, and that in this segment, there is no clearly expressed political readiness to open a wider front in the fight against these criminal offenses, which significantly undermine economic stability and produce poverty and unemployment.
