Mektić: I chose Stanić because he has the most experience in fighting corruption

Speaking about the reasons why he proposed Perica Stanić to be the new director of SIPA, the Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić said that he chose the candidate from the list of successful ones in accordance with his authorities, reports the Patria News Agency.

- The only connection between me and Stanić is that we worked in the same agency 15 years ago. Therefore, all five candidates were successful, and I had worked with each of them before in the MUP RS or in some other police agency. I was guided by the fact that Stanić has the most operational experience in fighting crime and corruption, as well as in leading police units, Mektić explains to EuroBlic.

He says that investigations into some affairs have already been opened at the BiH Prosecutor's Office, and that besides "Balkan Investment Bank", "Bobar Bank", "Boska" and some other cases from the FBiH, such as "Bosnalijek", are also included.

Mektić emphasizes that his fight against corruption involves creating an environment for the agencies to work in, free from political pressure.

- My role is to enable the development of good relations among police agencies and with the BiH Prosecutor's Office, to set priorities, together with the Council of Ministers. SIPA's priorities will be serious cases of terrorism, organized crime, and corruption.
