Mektić discusses cooperation with French Ministry of Interior official

BiH Minister of Security Dragan Mektić met today in Paris with the Director for International Cooperation of the French Ministry of Interior, Emile Perez, with whom he discussed the improvement of cooperation between the two ministries and police agencies in the fight against illegal arms trafficking and human trafficking, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

In these areas, joint teams from the police agencies and prosecution offices of the two countries have achieved excellent cooperation in recent years and carried out several very successful operational actions that have been assessed as examples of good and successful cooperation in international security circles. It was agreed that this model will continue to be used in the detection and dismantling of organized criminal groups.

As expected, special attention during the meeting was paid to the terrorist attack in Paris and the measures being taken to discover the perpetrators of this heinous attack. Minister Mektić expressed the readiness of police agencies in BiH to continue cooperation with the security structures of France and a joint approach to eliminating all security threats, especially when it comes to terrorism and organized crime. Among other things, a series of joint projects in the area of deradicalization were agreed upon.

Given that the French Minister of Interior, Bernard Cazeneuve, was involved today in monitoring the arrest operation of suspects for the terrorist attack, which was being carried out in Saint-Denis, it was agreed that a meeting between the two ministers will be held by the end of this year in Sarajevo.

Minister Mektić, accompanied by the BiH Ambassador to Paris, Ivan Orlić, visited the Bataclan club where the horrific terrorist attack was committed and laid flowers for the victims of this attack at the Place de la République.
