Mektić visited IDDEEA: Everything is being done to ensure citizens do not remain without passports on March 21

Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić visited the Agency for Identification Documents, Data Records and Exchange of BiH (IDDEEA) today, the agency announced, writes Patria.

At a meeting with Deputy Director Radivoje Trbić, the current situation regarding the issuance of personal documents was discussed, especially biometric passports, which were one of the basic conditions for the decision on visa liberalization for BiH citizens.

Minister Mektić emphasized the importance of maintaining the visa-free regime and expressed hope that the current situation regarding the procurement of passport booklets will be resolved in time, and that the issuance of personal documents will continue according to previously prescribed security procedures.

Deputy Director Trbić said that IDDEEA, in accordance with its mandate, has taken all available measures in accordance with the law so that citizens are not deprived of passports after March 21. He emphasized that IDDEEA remains committed to ensuring biometric passports that comply with international standards and recommendations, European Union regulations, and ICAO Document 9303, which is the main guarantee of trust in Bosnia and Herzegovina's documents.

The cooperation between these two state institutions so far has been assessed as very successful, with the hope that it will continue to be continuous in all segments of security in the future, was the conclusion of the meeting.
