Mektić: Sentence me to 10 years, but I will speak about corrupt judiciary

(Patria) - Dragan Mektić, SDS MP at the session dedicated to the state of the BiH judiciary, said during the discussion that he hoped they would not mind, but he would cross himself and thank the HJPC and the BiH Prosecutor's Office for heeding their pleas and gracing the session with their presence.

"Otherwise, every time they tried to come to a discussion, they said it was political pressure on them, that they had no need to come. They are under terrible political influence now, and we are trying to see how, and if there is a way, to remove this matter from political influence to try to work professionally. For four years I have been saying that the judicial system does not work, that it is corrupt, criminalized, and under heavy political influence, and I have earned an indictment.

You cannot say, Mr. Tegeltija: 'Imagine, indicted Mektić speaks about the judiciary,' well, I am not convicted, and I said: 'Imagine the well-heeled Tegeltija at the head of the judiciary.' And nothing happened in the end. For you, the investigation was completed in three days, and it was concluded that the disciplinary complaint against you was inadmissible. I thought there was one God, and Sanja Vulić says there is another, and here you are your own God.

Do you have moral responsibility? It would be honorable to say I participated, it was about money, and the prosecutor today threatens with a finger with a scandalous speech, saying whoever laughs last laughs best, it's not pressure on us to watch what we say. And she talked about the virus, that we should discuss coronavirus. Perhaps a doctor should stand up here and say something about it.

You are at the head of the strike force for combating illegal migrations, and we are discussing migrants. What do you know about migrations, you haven't managed to prove yourself even in what you are responsible for.

The diploma affair opened, diplomas were bought, and no evidence for the diplomas was found, and you are looking for a hundred employee diplomas. You can only request a diploma if you have grounds for suspicion.

For three years, my diploma has been scrutinized in an attempt to silence me. You can sentence me to ten years, I will not be silent. Where is your Pandora case? It was announced as the trial of the century. Where is it now? There were 37 people indicted, where is the money, the confiscated property. No one, except that the testimony of the first accused was published in the media.

Young people are leaving this country because there is no rule of law and they are leaving for safety. Where is Bosnalijek, election fraud and identity theft, where is David Dragičević, Saša Labotić, the Tobacco affair?" Mektić said.

Nermin Nikšić (SDP) also commented on the statement of the President of the HJPC, in which he said that he came because the HJPC decided so, adding that he still went to a gathering in Istočno Sarajevo without such a decision.

He also said that citizens' trust in the judiciary has fallen from 41 percent to 19 percent, "which is certainly one of the reasons why young people are leaving BiH," as he said.

Gordana Tadić said in her address to the MPs at the beginning of the session that MPs who did not participate in the judicial reform are discussing it today, but the MP of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Nermin Nikšić reminded that he was an actor in that reform when he voted "against" in the Federal Parliament.

MP Mirjana Marinković – Lekić said at the Thematic session that Tegeltija "is neither impartial nor a person of high moral qualities," as stipulated by the Law on the HJPC, and the HJPC does not sanction it.

One of the proposals that was discussed extensively during the multi-hour session, and which was also included in the conclusions, is the proposal by Jasmin Emrić, who said that the HJPC must position itself as a trustworthy institution, and that the malfunctioning of this body is evident, which is why it would be necessary in the future to "divide it into a High Judicial Council and a High Prosecutorial Council."
