Mektić on irregularities in police recruitment competitions: If allegations prove true, we will annul the procedure

Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić confirmed today that he received a letter from a group of employees of the Border Police of BiH, in which they list a series of irregularities regarding the admission of cadets to the Border Police, as well as some other accusations against the management of this police agency, reports the Patria agency.

Mektić said that he has not yet read the letter because he was absent, but that he is ready to investigate all allegations. Also, a letter was sent to him from damaged candidates who were removed from the list for admission to the FUP Special Unit at the personal will of Director Dragan Lukač, even though they were among the 15 best-rated candidates.

- If there is any truth to all of this, if we need to annul something, we will annul it, we will react. To make it clean, clear and regular. When I read that letter, I will be able to say something more concrete.

At the end of July, the same letter was sent to the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Security of BiH, in which alleged illegalities during the admission of the 8th class of cadets to the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina are presented, and the process is still ongoing.

The letter states that the ruling political parties demanded from the President of the Commission for the Admission of Cadets, Fahrudin Ibrić, as well as his assistant Kemal Barjaktarević, that a group of cadets, with strong political support, be provided with the questions that would be on the written test in advance, but that they refused to do so. The letter received by the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Security also mentions the name of Zijad Srabović, Deputy Director of the Border Police of BiH, as one of the GP managers who exerted pressure to admit certain individuals into the ranks of the GP.

Incidentally, after 14 candidates did not pass the health assessment in Sarajevo, the management of the Border Police of BiH decided to repeat the testing, but in Mostar. It is allegedly about candidates with strong political support.

The Border Police of BiH has previously been shaken by scandals due to nepotism, as well as the admission of convicted criminals, including serious violent offenders and drug dealers, into the ranks of the Border Police.
