Mektić criticises Patriarch Irinej: You care about the unity of Serbian political thieves and tycoons

(Patria) – Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić accused Serbian Patriarch Irinej of “caring about the unity of Serbian political thieves and tycoons.”

Patriarch Irinej previously stated that without unity there is no survival for the Serbian people.

“I do not belong to any politics. I would like and I pray to God that there are no divisions among us, but that our only politics, our only view and our only path be the good of our people,” said Patriarch Irinej in an Easter interview, excerpts of which were published on the website of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

He emphasised that unity is the only hope and salvation and that, without it, there is no survival for the Serbian people “in this wind-swept place.”

“But it seems to me, Your Holiness, that you care more about the unity of Serbian political thieves and tycoons,” wrote Minister Dragan Mektić on Twitter, who is a member of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS).

Other religious communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Islamic Community and the Catholic Church, are also often the target of criticism due to the cooperation of some of their members with ethno-political parties in the country, writes the Patria agency.
