Mektić wants to remove Izetbegović: We must seek another partner instead of SDA

The decision for Bosnia and Herzegovina to seek a revision of the judgment against Serbia has sparked a storm of reactions in BiH, especially in the BiH entity of RS, where party leaders, although on opposite sides, have found common ground on this issue, Patria writes.

On the other hand, officials from all levels of government also commented on the revision decision, including BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektić. Minister Mektić is known for his peculiar way of expressing himself, as well as for interfering in the jurisdiction of the court, prosecution, and police, even though it is not part of his job description.

Thus, Mektić "rained down fire and brimstone" on the gathering held at the Vijećnica on Friday, which was attended by members of the political, academic, and religious community in BiH at the invitation of BiH Presidency member Bakir Izetbegović. More than 50 prominent members expressed support for initiating the request for a revision of the judgment.

- That Bakir gathered some company down there, who are they?! And he says we made a decision! What kind? On whose behalf? Is that on behalf of the institutions? They invited the other two members of the Presidency, who did not respond, and as he says, he does not know the reason. He does not want to attend Presidency sessions to discuss this topic and instead calls some company there to talk about it. Such a manner is unacceptable. If the Serbian and Croatian peoples follow that logic and hold informal gatherings and make decisions concerning the internal organization of BiH, then what do we need state institutions for - said Mektić.

Mektić even went so far as to say that representatives from RS in state institutions "will have to seek another partner from SDA, because Bakir Izetbegović is deceiving his own people."

It is unclear in what capacity Mektić spoke about changing the coalition partner or party leader, given that he is not the president of SDS, and according to information Patria has, he is not even popular among the top leadership of his own party. Whether this was an opportunity to impose himself on the party leadership will be shown by time.

It should not be forgotten that this is not the first time Mektić has "mixed jurisdictions"; thus, he has announced major trials in the media, called for the prosecution of Chief Prosecutor Goran Salihović, undermined the work of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, and called for and announced actions by SIPA, whose head is his friend Perica Stanić.

Instead of Mektić, as a legal expert, saying that the courts should do their job and prove or reject the submitted request, he opted for threats to the survival of BiH.
