Mehmedović: The recording shows the state of affairs in SDA, but it's not new

(Patria) - Šemsudin Mehmedović, SDA MP in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, commented on the recording published by Semir Efendić, Mayor of Novi Grad, which features Asim Sarajlić concluding the votes of delegates for the election of the head of Sarajevo SDA.  

"Justice and fairness, legality and legitimacy, these should be values for elected officials at all levels and for everyone involved in public service, especially for political representatives, who must have moral responsibility for their work in addition to legal accountability.

The event that has shaken the political environment in BiH, and especially in SDA, certainly deserves (as expected) my stance on it. As an advocate for thorough reform of SDA, I cannot stand aside from what is happening in the state-building party on the eve of "Independence Day" when we should be celebrating this day in a festive atmosphere, they have treated us to a video that actually shows the reality of the situation in SDA. This is not new. This situation has been evident since the events of the 6th SDA Congress, when vote rigging was documented before the eyes of the entire public, and which has never been sanctioned.

Today, everything has surfaced and ACTION is needed to shed light on everything and finally confront all those who negatively affect the fundamental values of democracy, primarily within SDA. To be a delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, among the 15 chosen, to be a vice-president of the party, to be the president of the Personnel Commission, the president of the KO SDA Sarajevo, means to be as pure as snow, to be just, legitimate, legal, and not to be "the one who best arranges things".

The fundamental right of every free person is the right to choose and be chosen by their free will. The denial of this right must be sanctioned, and by law, we expect this from the state institutions, (not for persecuting dissenters), but the moral and political sanctioning of the participants in the destabilization of SDA BiH is the responsibility of the leader of SDA. The Statute of SDA BiH after the 7th Congress is completely presidential - all powers are in the hands of the SDA President, but the responsibility that goes with it should not be forgotten. Therefore, the SDA President is most responsible, and a clear and unambiguous move is expected from him to preserve the honor of the honest part of SDA.

Destabilization cannot happen to someone who is stable, and SDA's latest reaction is perceived by the public as standing behind a wrongdoing that is a shot in the heart of SDA. The crisis caused by this wrongdoing is an opportunity for SDA, and all honorable people in it, from which we must emerge stronger and better.

If, however, there is no adequate reaction from the SDA leadership, then you can comfortably continue to exclude all those who are thinking people and who have their own opinion, punish them and their communities from which they originated, and you will remain alone in the mire you have created. I publicly distance myself from all these dirty deeds that are shaking SDA, in which individuals participated, and I was never a part of it. I am ashamed of all of it," Mehmedović stated.
