(Patria) - State representative Šemsudin Mehmedović announced the formation of a new political bloc and his departure from SDA.
Mehmedović said on the show Jutro za sve on BHT that he has been working on this for a long time and expects more people in this new alliance.
The new political entity will be oriented towards the political center with a strong emphasis on the economy.
Mehmedović also said that "the left got a chance and is now going from mistake to mistake."
"Parties to the right of center had their chance. Now a large space is opening up in the political center, and this is an opportunity for people to wake up. The party will be civic-oriented," Mehmedović stated.
Asked who will be in the party, he said that will be known. Given that BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović was also mentioned, Mehmedović said that Bećirović is still formally a member of the SDP and should not change anything while he is a member of the BiH Presidency.
Asked whether his colleagues from SDA - Adil Osmanović, Alma Čolo who left SDA - will join him, he replied that he does not want to talk about names.
He also stated that his party will be "the deciding factor and a corrective" to the government.
Asked whether he will support the current government, he said his goal is to be a corrective and not allow further mistakes by the government.
"We will support everything that strengthens the institutional capacity of BiH. And we will oppose bad measures. We have no ambitions to enter this government," Mehmedović emphasized.
Speaking about his former party - SDA - Mehmedović called on Bakir Izetbegović to resign.
"The sooner, the better," he said.
He advocated for a new international conference on BiH that would gather leaders of parliamentary parties to find solutions for all 14 priorities for EU accession. The conference would also include representatives of the five leading Western countries and the European Union.
In that format, solutions could be found for some of BiH's burning issues, Mehmedović believes.
Commenting on repeated announcements by Milorad Dodik that he will secede, he emphasized that the approach must be completely changed and a proactive stance taken.
"Let Dodik react and explain. Instead of us - as before - constantly following him."
Mehmedović stressed that the key source of all problems in the Western Balkans is Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and his Greater Serbia policy.
