SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Chairman of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) Šemsudin Mehmedović and Deputy Chairman of the PSBiH Delegation to the PAM Mirsad Isaković were on an observation mission for the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey.
Mehmedović and Isaković, joined by parliamentarians from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia as part of the PAM observation mission in Turkey, visited a total of nine polling stations in Istanbul. Members of our delegation spoke with members of the polling boards, which at each polling station consisted of two civil servants and four representatives of political parties.
Out of a total of 57 million registered voters in Turkey, 10.5 million voters were registered in Istanbul, who voted in three districts of Turkey's largest city. From Istanbul, 101 deputies are elected to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey out of a total of 600 parliamentarians that make up the highest legislative institution in that country.
Yesterday, early presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Turkey, in which the current president of the country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and his Justice and Development Party (AKP) declared victory.
