Mehmedović and Emrić call on BiH Prosecutor's Office to work on all cases, not selected ones: Pensioners still in positions

(Patria) - Deputies in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, Šemsudin Mehmedović and Jasmin Emrić, addressed the public today on the topic of the work of the BiH Prosecutor's Office and apartheid in Stolac.

Mehmedović said that the inaction of the BiH Prosecutor's Office has led to an unbearable situation in BiH.

“Filing criminal charges has become the only tool in the fight for a state of law. Three months after the report against Darko Ćulum for attacking the constitutional order and abuse of official position, the BiH Prosecutor's Office has done nothing concrete. Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković was heard regarding the intention to lobby in the USA, at the initiative of Chief Prosecutor Kajganić. How is it possible that the BiH Prosecutor's Office takes steps in one case after media reports, but does not react to criminal charges. The same applies to the report against Borjana Krišto. We believe that the Chief Prosecutor has an obligation to inform the public why he has been acting contrary to the law for more than three months,” said Mehmedović.

He gave the Prosecutor's Office a deadline of 15 days to do something about the reports, and if that does not happen, he will seek disciplinary measures from the HJPC. He also warned about the devastating data on the number of Bosniaks in institutions and called for a review of the work of the BiH Civil Service Agency.

He asked the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of BiH who is responsible for five new cars, which were purchased for about half a million KM.

“And that from a company for which the brother of the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Robert Vidović, does the sales, all cars were procured by HDZ cadres,” said Mehmedović.

Deputy Jasmin Emrić said that the House of Representatives adopted an initiative last month obliging
institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina to respect and implement the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina which stipulate that employment ends by force of law for employees in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina when they reach the age of 65 or have 40 years of pensionable service. Also, the House of Representatives, by conclusion, obliged the Ministry of Justice to provide data on its employees who have met the conditions for retirement but are illegally still working and receiving salaries.

"The Ministry has provided the requested data. I will highlight just one example, the Concessions Commission. All three members of this body are still working, despite the fact that they have long met the legal conditions for retirement. Đoko Slijepčević is still a member of the Commission, although he met the conditions for retirement based on age in 2008. So, he is still working, even though he met the conditions for retirement 17 years ago and at the age of 83 receives an excellent salary, as do his
“young” colleagues Milomir Amović, who is 72 years old, and Mensur Šehagić - 70 years old.

The state Minister of Justice, Davor Bunoza, is directly responsible for such illegal work, as he provided an interpretation that the appointed officials can work until death, regardless of their age.

It is interesting to mention that the Concessions Commission, in more than 20 years since its formation, has never made a single concession decision, and they have an annual budget of one million marks. This example is just part of the iceberg of how taxpayers' funds are being plundered, while the Prosecutor's Office is doing absolutely nothing to hold perpetrators of criminal offenses accountable,” said Emrić.

The BiH Ministry of Justice obtained data from more than 60 state institutions, in which there are 22 individuals who meet the conditions for retirement and termination of employment. Of that number, seven are advisors who are exclusively appointed and dismissed by the minister and are not covered by the Law on Civil Service in the Institutions of BiH.
