(Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Bihać has announced a verdict sentencing Mehmedalija Koljić from Ključ to a unified prison term of 19 years for the murder of his wife and illegal possession of a semi-automatic pistol and ammunition.
The indictment against him was filed by the Prosecutor's Office of the Una-Sana Canton (USK).
"Based on several dozen pieces of material evidence, the testimony of several dozen witnesses and seven expert witnesses during the main trial, it was established beyond doubt that on December 27, 2024, at approximately 00:50 hours, in the settlement of Velagići, Ključ municipality, in the family home, Mehmedalija Koljić killed his wife Dijana Koljić with a semi-automatic pistol.
It was also established that without a valid weapons document, he acquired, kept and possessed a semi-automatic pistol, as well as the corresponding ammunition, with which he committed the aforementioned murder," stated the USK Prosecutor's Office.
After receiving the written copy of the verdict, the USK Prosecutor's Office announced that it will file an appeal with the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the imposed prison sentence, which the Prosecutor's Office considers inadequate given the gravity of the committed criminal offenses.
