'Meet Up': Sarajevo deserves world tourism promotion

(Patria) - "Sarajevo deserves world tourism promotion. We don't want to wait any longer, it's time to bring the most important tour operators from all over the world to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, show them our beauties and potential, and connect them with local tourism workers," said Abdulah Skaka, Mayor of Sarajevo, at a press conference today. The City of Sarajevo will host the 1st International Tour Operator Meeting "Meet Up Sarajevo 2019" from March 28 to April 1.

More than 200 travel agencies from more than 100 countries will have their representatives at this unique gathering. As stated at the press conference today, this is one of the most significant meetings of its kind and a great promotion of tourism potential.

"The City of Sarajevo has enriched its tourist offerings, we have revived Trebević, we are renovating museums, working on tourism infrastructure, and renowned hotel chains are coming. We felt that now is the right time to organize such an event that will accelerate tourism growth and help the entire economy. We have found support from airlines, tourism workers, hoteliers, and travel agencies, and we are working together on this very important project," said Mayor Skaka.

He added that the plan is for this conference to become traditional and that a similar event promoting winter tourism in BiH will be organized in the autumn. As Meliha Fazlić from JP Sarajevo d.o.o., co-organizer with the City of Sarajevo, pointed out at the conference, guests will be treated to a rich program that includes a tour of Sarajevo and its most important tourist attractions for an unforgettable Sarajevo experience.

Adnan Vlajčić, on behalf of the organizers, informed the public about the details of the conference program, emphasizing that the focus is on presentation and networking.

"We expect more than 200 participants from a large number of countries, from the Middle East, East and Southeast Asia, North America, Europe, and the Western Balkans. A very important fact is that a large number of domestic tourism entities are part of this project. This is a step that will open doors for new investments and business opportunities for the tourism sector," said Vlajčić.
