International High Diving Bentbaša 2015

The Association for Sport and Recreation “Sport active” from Sarajevo, led by Master of Sports and experienced high diver Dino Bajrić, will organize the first competition of high diving into the Miljacka river in Sarajevo “International High Diving Sarajevo Bentbaša 2015″ on August 22, reports the Patria News Agency.

Guest on BH Radio 1, Dino Bajrić explained that it is about diving from the platform near the dam at Bentbaša, where a diving platform will be set up, which will simultaneously raise the height to 14 meters.

- Since I professionally engage in high diving, I wanted to present these dives to the Sarajevo audience, and at the same time, bring back the memory of the celebrated Bentbaša. I truly believe that this event will be an attraction for Sarajevans, as well as for numerous tourists, and that, along with memories from the Sarajevo Film Festival, they will go home with a beautiful memory of the dives, which are held on the last day of SFF - Bajrić said.

At this, the first competition, 20 divers are expected from Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, and, of course, Bosnia and Herzegovina. These are experienced competitors, whom we also see on other diving platforms in BiH and the region.

- I wanted to bring the best divers in our region to Sarajevo, and I think I succeeded in that - Bajrić explained, adding that he will not invite anyone who is not ready for the dive.

The Miljacka river is slightly more than three meters deep at that point, and regarding water purity, Dino Bajrić says that the Miljacka is completely clean, especially compared to some other waters and rivers they have dived into.

The association “Sport active” did not get permission to raise the diving platform to a height of 17 meters, but they believe that they will succeed in that next year, and that Sarajevo will thus have the third highest diving platform in BiH, right after Mostar and Jajce.
