Sarajevo International Airport Breaks Records in 2014 Too

After last year's 665,638 passengers, Sarajevo International Airport is breaking records in 2014 as well, reports Patria.

In the first nine months of the current year, 555,145 passengers passed through this airport, which is 7% more compared to the same period of the record-breaking 2013. An increase was also recorded in the number of air operations by 10%, while civil cargo processed was 15% higher compared to 2013.

The growth in traffic was also reflected in the financial results of operations, so the profit achieved for the first six months of the current year amounts to 2,673,412.14 KM, which is 71% higher compared to the previous year.

The positive business performance is the result of many years of dedication by the Management, as well as the entire team of Sarajevo International Airport, whose professional approach to the business this company conducts has been recognized by many leading airlines, which is why Sarajevo is today, more than ever, connected to Europe, as well as the rest of the world.

Introducing new routes at affordable prices, and quality of service, are some of the main goals of this company, accordingly, from December, the low-cost airline Flydubai will open a route on the Dubai – Sarajevo – Dubai line, and negotiations are underway with several other air carriers, who, by opening their routes, should connect Sarajevo with attractive world destinations, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner.

- The opening of new routes will also result in increased traffic, therefore, business plans for the next period are reflected through investment in infrastructure, namely the reconstruction of Terminal B, raising the level of security for passengers, aircraft, facilities, baggage, and cargo. It is also planned to invest in the procurement of modern airport equipment, as well as the training and education of employees, to which this airport has attached great importance for years – stated the Director of Sarajevo International Airport Company, Ivan Veličan.
