International Conference on the Problem of the Nuclear Waste Repository at Trgovska Gora

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Organized by deputies from all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina who, as members of various parliamentary parties, are gathered in the Green Club in the Parliamentary
Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an international conference will be held today titled "The Problem of the Storage/Disposal Site for Radioactive and Nuclear Waste at the Location of Trgovska Gora".

Namely, following the procedure and activities conducted by the competent institutions in the Republic of Croatia for the disposal of radioactive and nuclear waste at the location of Trgovska Gora, which is
located in the immediate vicinity of the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, the members of the Green Club have agreed that it is very necessary to organize a one-day international conference that will address the current course of the procedure for establishing the aforementioned storage/disposal site. Within this gathering, as announced, attention will once again be drawn to possible harmful cross-border impacts on the territory and population of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as further legal actions and civic initiatives aimed at halting the procedure and preventing the establishment/construction of the said repository for radioactive and nuclear waste.

Invited to the conference are members of the Presidency and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of embassies of European Union member states, deputies/representatives from all levels of government, representatives of entity and cantonal governments, representatives of competent ministries and agencies, interested professional and scientific public, as well as representatives of non-governmental and international organizations dealing with environmental protection.
