International Democrat Union Adopts Resolution on BiH at PDP's Proposal

SANTIAGO, (Patria) - The International Democrat Union, the world's most powerful organization of political parties, at a meeting held in Chile, and at the initiative of the Party of Democratic Progress, adopted a Resolution on Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the Resolution, which was unanimously adopted, the International Democrat Union condemns blackmail and pressure on citizens during the pre-election campaign, biased and unprofessional reporting by public services, attacks on citizens and the opposition, and the prohibition of public gatherings and freedom of expression. The Resolution also supports the proposed amendments to the Election Law to ensure fair and honest elections, calls for the provision of conditions for professional, impartial, and truthful public information, urges the provision of conditions for the impartial and effective work of judicial institutions, and calls on all political actors to focus their activities on solving economic problems, improving living and working conditions for citizens, and combating corruption and crime, it was announced today from the PDP.

Branislav Borenović, president of the PDP, who attended the meeting of the International Democrat Union, emphasizes that this is the first time in history that this organization has passed a resolution concerning BiH.

"Behind this text of the Resolution on BiH, at the proposal of the PDP, more than seventy world parties stood with their vote, including the most powerful ones – US Republicans of President Donald Trump, German Christian Democrats of Angela Merkel, British Conservatives of Theresa May. Our aspiration and struggle to live in a free, democratic, and prosperous society has, in this way, transcended the country's borders, and we will continue to fight through political action in Republika Srpska and BiH for a society in which everyone can live with dignity. In addition to global topics, our region was also discussed, and this resolution sent a message to the world that good democratic practices are necessary in BiH and that it is high time to return to the right path," said Borenović.

Borenović met with the president of the International Democrat Union and former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, with whom he discussed future cooperation. He also met with Member of the European Parliament and Vice-President of the European People's Party David McAllister, President of the Argentine Senate Federico Pinedo, Vice-President of the Conservative Party of Great Britain Alec Shelbrooke, Minister in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Jadranka Joksimović, and numerous other officials.
