Media in the Function of Spreading Hatred: The Orthodox Church in Sarajevo Was Not Set on Fire!

Nationalist propaganda from across the Drina does not rest and only fuels the already heated pre-election political atmosphere in Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes the Patria news agency.  

Although there is an official police report, and although numerous media outlets have been on the scene since this morning where they recorded that a storage space containing garden tools was burning, and that Sarajevo firefighters extinguished the fire in 15 minutes, Belgrade portals are flooding the public with headlines such as „Terror in Sarajevo: The Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord Set on Fire!“, „Scandal in the Center of Sarajevo: Orthodox Church Set on Fire“, „Horrific: Serbs Targeted Again: Orthodox Church Set on Fire“....  

Unfortunately, some media outlets published in Banja Luka are not lagging behind in this spread of hatred through false headlines, although when the texts are read, it is completely clear that it was the storage where tools are kept that burned. 

The church in the Sarajevo neighborhood was not set on fire! Just as during the aggression against BiH, no Orthodox, Catholic or Jewish religious object was desecrated in the capital city, except if damaged by the numerous shells that flew in from the surrounding hills.   

The entire Orthodox church in Pofalići is intact, just as on Friday, August 19, when the Orthodox holiday of the Transfiguration was traditionally celebrated all day in the courtyard of this church.

With such false reporting and headlines, Belgrade media raise nationalist tensions, cause unrest among citizens in BiH, all its peoples, and strengthen hatred. Who needs this?
