(Patria) - I am proud of the successes we have achieved together and our continued commitment to all citizens of BiH, said the commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Pamela L. McGaha, who is nearing the end of her mandate.

McGaha made this statement during meetings held with the heads of partner BiH institutions - the Ministry of Defence of BiH, the Joint Commission for Defence and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, and the Ministry of Security of BiH.

The General thanked her partners for the excellent cooperation during her mandate at NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, as well as for their continuous and daily commitment to improving the defence and security infrastructure in BiH, "which will ultimately benefit all citizens of BiH."

She highlighted a number of successful results jointly achieved over the past two years, including the excellent assessment of the Light Infantry Battalion Group of the Armed Forces of BiH in 2022 as capable of operating in accordance with NATO standards.

She also pointed out the numerous brave members of the Armed Forces of BiH who responded to the call to provide assistance to allies in emergency situations following devastating natural disasters in Turkey and Slovenia.

McGaha also referred to numerous multi-agency response situations to floods and forest fires in BiH aimed at saving lives, with the support of the NATO-funded Incident Command System (NICS).

She emphasized the continued support for BiH in the context of the "Women, Peace and Security" initiative, as well as the partnership between BiH and the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, including the prestigious Rose-Roth seminar hosted by BiH last year.

The meetings were also an opportunity to introduce the new commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Matthew A. Valas, who will assume the position of commander on May 10, 2024, at the formal change of command ceremony to be held at the Armed Forces Hall.
