(Patria) - Croatian Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić revealed that he participated in the aggression on Mostar in 1993 during his address at the former HVO concentration camp for Mostar Bosniaks at Heliodrom, today's "Stanislav Baja Kraljević" barracks near Mostar, where the monument "Zora slobode" (Dawn of Freedom) was unveiled.
The Srebrenica Memorial Center reacted to Anušić's speech.
"Croatian Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić, in his statement today at the unveiling of the monument "Zora slobode" at the "Stanislav Baja Kraljević" barracks near Mostar, mentioned that in 1993 he participated in the "Mostar battlefield" as a member of the HVO (August 1993). The Srebrenica Memorial Center calls on the Government of Croatia to clarify this statement and the involvement of the current minister in military actions that the ICTY confirmed as a Joint Criminal Enterprise in the verdict against Jadranko Prlić, Bruno Stojić, Slobodan Praljak, Milivoj Petković, Valentin Ćorić, and Berislav Pušić", stated the Srebrenica Memorial Center.

Anušić, originally from Osijek, passed through numerous battlefields as a member of the Croatian National Guard, the 106th and 130th Brigades, the Special Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, the Military Police, and the 3rd Guards Brigade. And according to his own admission, the Mostar battlefield as well, Vijesti.ba reports.
“I am glad to be here today. I have come here after many years. The last time I was here was in 1993, as a member of the HVO, I fought in Mostar defending Croatian interests, the Croatian state, and the Croatian people. I will again, if necessary, do everything in a political sense to defend our values, your values, and the survival of the Croatian people in these areas”, said the Croatian Minister of Defense in Mostar.
