May faces government collapse over Brexit

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - British Prime Minister Theresa May faces the risk of "complete collapse" of the government if she fails to push her troubled Brexit deal through parliament, writes the Sunday Times.

In recent days, it has been speculated that the British Prime Minister might call for early elections.

Pointing to the difficult choice May faces in resolving the Brexit issue, they state that at least six pro-European ministers have announced their resignations if the Prime Minister decides to leave the EU without a deal.

On the other hand, ministers who support Brexit are threatening to leave the government if May decides to remain in a customs union with the EU or if she requests a longer Brexit delay, the Sunday Times reports.

Almost three years after Britons voted 52 percent for and 48 percent against leaving the EU after 46 years of membership, it is unclear what Brexit will look like, or even if it will happen at all.

May now has less than two weeks to convince the leaders of the 27 EU member states that she can get the situation out of a deadlock.

The Mail on Sunday writes that her advisors are divided on whether May can call for early elections if she does not get support for her deal in parliament.
