Mašić: The Islamic Community is also helping us with the problem of students from Konjević Polje, which is very good

Federal Minister of Education and Science Damir Mašić said that it is very important that the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina has also become involved in resolving the issue of Bosniak students from Konjević Polje. Because, Mašić told the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP), the Islamic Community has the infrastructure, i.e., premises where Bosniak children from this place can attend classes without hindrance in the upcoming school year.

Bosniak students from Konjević Polje will, starting in September of this school year, attend classes in Nova Kasaba, in the premises of the Islamic Community, instead of at their home school, the „Petar Kočić“ Elementary School in Kravica, NAP writes.

The reason for this is that the national group of subjects has still not been introduced for Bosniak children at the school in Kravica, even though there is a temporary court ruling from the Basic Court in Srebrenica to that effect.

Due to such a discriminatory attitude by the authorities from the RS, the parents of Bosniak children decided last year to boycott classes at this school.

Minister Mašić said that regardless of the obstructions coming from the RS, which are clearly political in nature, the children from Konjević Polje will not be left without education. He confirmed that these children have the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees, the Ministry of Education of Sarajevo Canton, and the Islamic Community.

- The children from Konjević Polje, as well as the children from Vrbanjci near Kotor-Varoši, who have the same problem, will not be left without education. We will do everything to provide them with quality instructional classes until we resolve their problem in their home schools – Mašić told NAP.

At today's meeting of the parents of Bosniak children with Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović, which was also attended by Minister Mašić, it was agreed that the children from Konjević Polje will again be provided with funds for teachers, transportation, and other costs, as well as the premises of the Islamic Community in Nova Kasaba this year. The Bosniak children will attend this temporary school until the national group of subjects is introduced for them at the „Petar Kočić“ school, NAP writes.
