Maruf: France's decision is shameful, they are denying human rights

Madžid Maruf, president of the Association "Palestinian Community in BiH", is outraged by the news that France has banned protests in support of Gaza, writes the Patria news agency.

In a conversation with NAP, he stated that almost every time Muslim rights are threatened anywhere in the world, some countries that most advocate for respect for human rights ban their citizens from expressing their opinions.

- So, where is the democracy in that. It is shameful that people are denied basic human rights to freedom of thought and speech. I am disappointed and hope that some other countries will not introduce this ban, because the world must understand that civilians, a large number of children and women, are suffering in the Gaza Strip - says Maruf.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of France, Bernard Cazeneuve, stated that it is necessary to ban mass protests in support of Gaza scheduled for this weekend in France.

- Protests are a threat to public peace in our country - emphasized the French minister.

Maruf, however, believes that a peaceful march and a loudly expressed "no to war" and "stop killing innocents" is not a threat to public peace.

Otherwise, a peaceful march is also being held in Sarajevo today from Sebilj to the BBI Center, where citizens of BiH will express their dissatisfaction with the Israeli attacks on Gaza.
