March of Peace arrives in Potočari

The March of Peace 2015, with around 10,000 participants who started from Nezuk on July 8, has arrived in Potočari, where the funeral prayer for 136 victims of the Srebrenica genocide will be held tomorrow, reports the reporter of the BH News Agency Patria.

The March of Peace took place in three stages, and today the US Ambassador Maureen Cormack and Member of the European Parliament Tanja Fajon joined the March.

Upon arrival in Potočari, Fajon was the first to officially express words of support, saying she hoped this country would one day move forward, as all its peoples deserve it.

Doctor Ilijaz Pilav, who walked the Path of Death in 1995, walked the same path 20 years later.

- I am glad that the Path of Death has been transformed into a path of peace, a path of courage, and a path of hope - stated Pilav.

The participants walked a path of about 100 km, and in this way, they paid tribute to the victims of Srebrenica who were brutally killed by the Army of Republika Srpska in July 1995.

Although some organizations and individuals had announced that they might interrupt the March of Peace, it fortunately ended without incident. Also, the participants endured this difficult journey well, especially the children and those who were fasting.

During the three days of walking, the emergency services intervened several times, but in most cases, it was due to exhaustion. Only two individuals were transported by helicopter to the University Clinical Center Tuzla, but they are stable and out of danger.
