Markovina: You cannot demand rights for your people and deny rights where you rule

(Patria) - There are several problems with the HNS Declaration, and one of the biggest is the glorification and affirmation of the policy of the so-called Herceg-Bosna, historian Dragan Markovina told N1, after the NGO led by Dragan Čović adopted a document on January 26th calling for a new internal restructuring of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as rejecting the qualification of "joint criminal enterprise," as the Hague Tribunal ruled against the leaders of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Community of Herceg-Bosna for the war in BiH.

"No political institution has the right to accept or reject court qualifications. This is not a matter for academic and political debate, it is factually and legally established," Markovina said, NAP reports.

"I do not want to say that the Croatian problem or issue in BiH does not exist, but that does not mean it is always true," he said.

"You cannot, on the one hand, demand these /rights for one people/, and where you have power, specifically Mostar, where you have the opportunity to show how you see BiH in a multi-ethnic environment, you have the same kind of radical nationalism and you have streets named after Ustaše ministers," Markovina told N1, recalling that Croatian political representatives glorified the Hague Tribunal when it acquitted Ante Gotovina, and rejected and denied it when the verdict was delivered in the case of the Hague Six and the Joint Criminal Enterprise.
