Mark Andrew Green new USAID Administrator

The United States Senate has confirmed Ambassador Mark Andrew Green as the 18th Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). With his unwavering commitment to strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency of USAID, the Agency will continue to build partnerships and strengthen its role as a global representative of American generosity and support for national security.

Mark Andrew Green comes to the position of USAID Administrator with extensive experience – he served as U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania, was a member of the House of Representatives from Wisconsin, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Until recently, he served as President of the International Republican Institute.

- There is a lot of important work ahead of us - said Ambassador Green on his first day as USAID Administrator.

- There are numerous development challenges – from the persistent threat of infectious diseases to growing serious threats to civil society groups. We will continue to stand with those affected by disasters, because that is who we are as Americans. But we will also call on others to do their part, and we will work tirelessly to ensure our aid is delivered in the most effective way possible, helping in emergencies and building resilience to future crises - emphasized Ambassador Green.

The U.S. Agency for International Development leads the U.S. Government's efforts to combat extreme poverty and promote sustainable, democratic societies.

To date, the U.S. government, primarily through USAID, has provided more than $1.7 billion in aid intended to support the economic, democratic, and social progress of BiH.
