Marjanović: Scientific body did not participate in the drafting of the Action Plan for Combating Covid 19

SARAJevo, (Patria) – Prof. Dr. Damir Marjanović, a member of the Scientific Council for monitoring and analyzing the situation caused by the new coronavirus, formed by the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton, denied the information that this body participated in the drafting of the Action Plan for Combating Coronavirus in accordance with the conclusions of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly from August 25, 2020.

This is supported by the fact that Marjanović asked at yesterday's session what was happening with the implementation of these conclusions. He referred to the presentation of Aida Pilav, president of the Sarajevo Canton Crisis Staff, whose work he praised, but emphasized that the Scientific Body, or rather he himself, did not participate in the drafting of the Action Plan. Incidentally, the Action Plan arrived at the media addresses during the session. Dr. Marjanović spoke again today, stating that consultations with other members of the Scientific Body confirmed that they did not participate in the drafting of the published document.

“Namely, apart from a brief meeting with the minister, the members of the Scientific Council did not have the opportunity to participate in the creation of any action plan. Our last activity (exclusively of our own initiative) resulted in the fourth document that we submitted to the Government's protocol on May 13 this year. However, if the Government and the Ministry believe that we, as a council, could contribute to the creation of this document, we are available, as always,” Marjanović stated.

One of the conclusions states that the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton is obliged to convene an urgent meeting of representatives of the ministry and the Scientific Body for monitoring and analyzing the situation caused by the coronavirus during the pandemic, in order to consider and urgently implement measures from the previously submitted documents of this body. The Action Plan states that a working meeting of the Scientific Body and the acting Minister of Health was held on September 4.

The Action Plan highlighted that the Scientific Body, as a professional, advisory body, is included in the work of the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton and is tasked with actively and continuously engaging in the work of the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton, and has the obligation and responsibility to propose solutions that are based on science and are the product of scientifically verified methodologies and knowledge.
