Marina Pendeš obstructed the admission of officers into the Armed Forces of BiH for months

The Ministry of Defence of BiH today published a public call for the admission of candidates into professional military service in the initial rank of officer of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

From the Bosniak people, 13 candidates with a university degree, VII degree or first cycle of the Bologna process are required. Among other things, four candidates are needed for musical service in the instrumental direction of trumpet, clarinet/saxophone, trombone/euphonium, and horn. Other services include (communications, military intelligence, military police, technical, aviation technical, transport, medical, veterinary).

From the Serb people, 18 candidates with a university degree, VII degree or first cycle of the Bologna process are required. The largest number of candidates are admitted to technical and medical services and military intelligence. Other services include (communications, financial, and quartermaster).

From the Croat people, 6 candidates are required in six services (military police, military intelligence, technical, financial, transport, and quartermaster).

As the BiH news agency Patria has learned, this call for applications has been on hold since May this year, and "thanks" to the obstruction by Marina Pendeš (HDZ BiH), Deputy Minister of Defence of BiH, whose intention was to personally select candidates from the Croat people who passed the tests, but she was prevented from doing so.

Otherwise, advisory members of the Commission for admitting candidates are the Military Attaché of Great Britain and Ole Asbjørn Fauske, Deputy Commander of the NATO Staff in Sarajevo.

All candidates will go through three phases of verification in the BiH Armed Forces centres. The first phase of verification is carried out in the recruitment and transition centres in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Čapljina, and Tuzla:

- physical fitness test,

- general knowledge test, and

- English language test.

The second phase of verification is carried out in the Training and Doctrine Command in Travnik and involves testing the candidates' leadership abilities through the following types of tests:

- physical fitness test (beep test),

- psychometric test,

- leaderless command tasks,

- planning exercises,

- group discussion,

- essay,

- presentation,

- obstacle course with individual obstacles,

- command tasks with a leader, and

- team race.

The third phase of verification includes:

- medical examinations, and

- security checks.
