Less than two months until elections: SDA still has no Election Platform!

The presidency session of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) will be held tomorrow in Sarajevo, it was announced from this party, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

Although it is not officially stated what the party leadership will discuss at the session, we have been informed that, among other things, the activities so far on campaign preparation, the election slogan, and the election platform will be considered.

According to unofficial information, the situation within the SDA remained unclear after the last session of the Main Board in Goražde, several weeks ago, where the Election Platform was supposed to be adopted. As announced at the time, the Election Platform was discussed but not adopted, because the discussion, due to a large number of objections, was prolonged, and the quorum was lost.

It is less than two months until the elections, and the SDA still has not adopted its Election Platform.

At the same time, a discussion is expected about the criticisms directed in public at the party's candidate for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Izetbegović, due to his statements at a pre-election rally ahead of the elections in Turkey. Izetbegović found himself the target of criticism from his rivals, as well as the wider public, due to his intemperate statements.

As we were told ahead of tomorrow's session of the SDA Presidency, it is not in question that during the election campaign all members of the innermost leadership of the SDA will provide support to their candidate Izetbegović, but many are not fully in agreement with all of Izetbegović's public statements and activities and will also voice criticisms.

- The SDA has not only fielded a candidate for the Presidency of BiH but for all levels of government. We expect the party to support and provide an opportunity for candidates for other important positions, not just Izetbegović, to achieve a good election result - a source from the SDA leadership told us.
