(Patria) - The 33rd regular session of the Centar Sarajevo Municipal Council is scheduled to be held on Monday, November 20, after two previous sessions were not held. One lacked a quorum for adopting the agenda, and the next lacked a quorum for the session to be held at all.
After it officially became clear that there would be no referendum on the recall of Srđan Mandić, the mayor who has clearly lost his majority in the Municipal Council, he called on council members for understanding and to adopt important items such as the municipality's budget for 2024 and scholarships for pupils and students.
The Club of People and Justice council members, who initiated Mandić's recall, emphasize that they have been insisting for months on receiving answers from the mayor that are of great public interest.
“In addition to work contracts, advisors, redistribution of budget funds, and contracts for certain projects, we also asked the mayor to provide a list of members of the commissions he formed, how much remuneration these members received, and how much money was spent for these purposes. As with many others, we did not receive answers to these questions either. Instead, the mayor is once again engaging in populism, stating in the media last week that he will offer a hand of cooperation to the council members who voted for his recall, again preemptively creating a victim complex, and at the same time preparing the ground to further damage relations in the Centar Municipality, and blame others for it,” state NIP Centar.
They state that Mayor Mandić, out of revenge, initiated the dismissal of the Management Board of the Public Institution Centar for Culture and Youth. They remind that the Municipal Council adopted the work report of this institution.
"The mayor once again shows that legal and sub-legal acts do not apply to him, so he does whatever he wants according to his own rules. Of course, this 'adventure' of the mayor will also have an epilogue, as will all others that we have reported to the authorities.
The mayor is not at all concerned with the quality of life of the citizens; he continues to engage in placing and assigning loyal staff, showing and proving that he is in charge and that no one dares or can do anything to him, and if anyone dares to object to him, they are 'crucified' in public.
The mayor must know that this move of his will receive an adequate response because leading a local community is not about showing force and subjugating the representatives of the citizens in the Municipal Council,” emphasize NiP Centar.
Incidentally, after the referendum failed, Mandić announces a run for another term as head of the Centar Municipality. From NiP Centar, they are resolute: If it were up to us, he would not be a candidate.
However, as the president of NIP, Elmedin Konaković, once said, he is the one who finally makes the decision. Will that be the case in this instance?
