Mandić on 'white bread': This year it will cost Centar Municipality 230,000 KM

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Centar Municipality Mayor Srđan Mandić confirmed that this municipality will allocate 230,000 KM for the compensation popularly known as “white bread” in 2021.

The request for “white bread” was submitted by former mayor Nedžad Ajnadžić and several other individuals.

“These are so-called acquired rights, and I, as mayor, cannot do anything about it, which further frustrates me. Every day I am faced with numerous requests for help, there are many poor and vulnerable people,” Mandić wrote.

He adds that at the same time, the two deputy mayors, Benjamin Isović and Ira Adilagić, will not take their due salaries, which will partially compensate for this extravagance. 

The Law on Election, Termination of Mandate, Recall and Replacement of Municipal Mayors in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina allows mayors to receive salary compensation after their mandate ends, as follows:

“After the termination of the mayor's duty, and until the start of receiving a salary from another source or until meeting the conditions for retirement, mayors are entitled to:

- with a service record of up to five years, three months of salary compensation they received while in public office, and the next nine months at 50% of that salary;

- with a service record of five to 15 years, six months of salary compensation they received while in public office, and the next six months at 50% of that salary;

- with a service record of 15 to 25 years, nine months of salary compensation they received while in public office, and the next three months at 50% of that salary;

- with a service record of over 25 years, 12 months of salary compensation they received while in public office.

Former mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality, Nedžad Koldžo, also submitted a request for compensation, which he will receive for a year.
