Mandić rewards top students

The Mayor of Centar Municipality, Srđan Mandić, hosted today the top students from Centar Municipality, recipients of gold and silver badges from the University of Sarajevo for the academic year 2020/2021.

Eighteen students from the Faculties of Philosophy, Electrical Engineering, Economics, Medicine, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, as well as the Academy of Music and the Academy of Fine Arts, were awarded today for their effort, work, and achieved success.

Mayor Mandić praised their achievements in a conversation with the students, adding that the doors of Centar Municipality are always open to young people.

- Days like this are probably the most pleasant in this job. Having the opportunity to spend time with young people and support them is a special pleasure and privilege, especially at a time when many young people are leaving our homeland. I take this opportunity to thank them for deciding to stay here, to study, but also to work and earn a living. Centar Municipality implements a number of programs intended for young people. This is our fight for the youth, and on this occasion, I once again invite them to give our Bosnia and Herzegovina a chance and stay here, said Mayor Mandić.

Aleksa Piljak is a student at the Faculty of Law and a recipient of the Gold Badge award. As he emphasized, any form of recognition and support means a lot to him as motivation for the future.

- I plan to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina and build a career in my homeland. The path to such success was difficult, accompanied by great sacrifices, but when you want something and have a clear goal, everything is achievable, Aleksa pointed out.

In addition to the recognitions, Mayor Mandić also presented the students with monetary awards. He noted that this is just a small token of appreciation to show that their effort and work are valued, and that support for the youth of Centar Municipality will continue. The grant for this type of support in the budget of Centar Municipality Sarajevo amounts to 10,000 KM.

Centar Municipality allocates significant funds for youth support, which is also reflected through scholarships for pupils and students. This year, the planned funds for this purpose amount to 600,000 KM.

Merisa Hanjalić, a student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and a recipient of the Silver Badge, said that she sees her future in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Given that I studied in the department of electrical power engineering, I know there is a lot of room for advancement in that field in our homeland. I want to tell the younger generations to choose the right and healthy role models in life. Only then can we move forward, building healthy foundations, said Merisa.

The recognitions of Centar Municipality Sarajevo were awarded today to:

Aleksa Piljak (Faculty of Law), Hana Vranac (Faculty of Philosophy), Filip Milošević (Academy of Music), Arman Mujčić (Faculty of Law), Adna Škamo (Faculty of Law), Lamija Hasković (Academy of Music), Igor Petković (Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Sarajevo), Edin Živalj (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics), Ana Milijević (Academy of Fine Arts) – are the recipients of the "Gold Badge" award.

The recipients of the "Silver Badge" award are: Amina Blekić (Faculty of Medicine), Merjem Kazazović (Faculty of Sports and Physical Education), Merjem Kasumović (Faculty of Philosophy), Ena Gurda (Faculty of Law), Mehmed Mešanović (Academy of Fine Arts), Din Avdispahić (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics), Hađer Sinanović (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics), Arabela Škrijelj (Academy of Fine Arts), Merisa Hanjalić (Faculty of Electrical Engineering).

The reception for the students was attended by councilor Velija Katica and Lejla Dizdarević, assistant mayor for education, social activities, culture, and sports.
